Fear vs. Courage

Fear and uncertainty can be paralyzing, and by allowing these feelings free reign in your life, they will prevent you from living the best life possible. With what is going on in the world right now, and the emphasis being placed on it, we should choose to live as fearlessly as we can and face the challenges with courage to the best of our ability.

By dwelling on the unknown and worrying about the what ifs, we are undermining ourselves. Yes, the world is changing, and the health of humanity is facing a challenge that no one is quite sure how to handle (yet) but if we allow fear to control us, we are inviting doom and gloom.

Now, I’m not saying that we should stick our heads in the sand and pretend that everything is fine – far from it. I’m saying that we would benefit from a more positive outlook and use common (or perhaps nowadays it is uncommon) sense.

It is important to focus on doing what we can to protect our health in this time of uncertainty, but we must do so in a smart way, not by going into a panic and hoarding everything in sight. First, stay home if you’re sick, and I mean this in the kindest way possible, but if you’re sick you have no damn business going to the store and spreading the sickness around. That’s just rude, reckless, and downright shameful. As much as possible, eat fresh fruits and vegetables to boost your vitamin and mineral intake which will help fortify your immune system – at least to some degree; drink plenty of water, exercise, wash your hands, don’t touch your face, get plenty of rest… you know, follow the guidelines for basic proper hygiene.

Yes, I know that anyone can potentially become infected with this virus, but by being as proactive as possible to make health the priority, then we can think more about health and less about disease. If you’re going to give your attention to something, make it count.

Fear is a reaction. Courage is a decision.
