Cleaning Up

Today is the perfect day to spend some time cleaning up and beautifying our homes and communities. The clutter that accumulates on the counter, the unused items that are hiding in the closet, the weeds growing in the flower planters, the trash someone threw out the car window, etc. are all examples of things we can clean up. Of course, there are lots more things we can do, but this is something the average person can take on in a relatively short amount of time.

“Dear old world, you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.”

Lucy Maud Montgomery

While it can feel daunting to even begin one of these tasks, it needn’t be overwhelming. If you set a timer for 30 minutes or an hour and just focus on the one task during that period, it is amazing how much you can accomplish. Donate a few items and/or articles of clothing, that are within easy reach and that are no longer needed, to those who can give them new life. Clear out the weeds and plant a beautiful flower or tree. Pick up any trash within 50 or 100 feet of where you are. Just think of something that you can do that will positively impact your surroundings, then do it. You will be glad you did.

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together; all things connect.”

Chief Seattle
