Life is dynamic; it changes all the time. There is no stopping it. It is the nature of all things. Seasons flow from one to another and is a powerful example of life stages.
Change will occur, and we can either direct our focus on how we want to use the changes for our benefit, or we can take a more resistant approach and try to fight changes or refuse to actively involve ourselves in the process, dragged along for the ride, wondering what the heck is happening.
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Lao Tzu
We are always changing, too. We are still who we are, but at the same time we are not the same person we were yesterday. Old cells have died, and we have created new ones; we may have released something or changed a belief or discovered something new. Regardless of whether we think we are the same, we are different, at least to some degree.
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.”
Richard Bach
Because we are constantly changing, our growth, development, and potential as a person (on all levels) is dependent upon moving forward and embracing who we are becoming. We can reflect on our past and bless the person we were, but we must let that version of ourselves go, as that person no longer exists.
Our life expands each time we experience something different, or we reach a new awareness. Sometimes the changes can be difficult, or painful even, but ultimately, if we surrender to the inevitability of change, we evolve and grow and enrich our lives each time we open ourselves to a fuller expression of who we are as we create the masterpiece of our life.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
Anais Nin
