Sometimes we are so focused on what is right in front of us, that we lose track of what is going on around us. While it is a good thing to put our attention on what we want for our life, if we are so single-minded about it that we ignore other possibilities, then we may miss something truly extraordinary.
“The best vision is insight.”
Malcolm Forbes
As we follow our life’s path, we can check in with ourselves and monitor how we are feeling at any time. If we stay tuned in to our inner guidance system, and follow the nudges that maybe something isn’t right, or feel that surge of “Yes! This is the way!” then we know we are not allowing tunnel vision to keep us in the dark, so to speak, about what is right for us.
“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”
Mark Twain
Peripheral vision is a useful tool to help us be aware of what is going on around us, to alert us to danger. If we metaphorically use our peripheral vision as applied to our dreams and goals in life, then we will have a clearer understanding of the bigger picture.
We may know what our goal is, and we may think we know the only way to achieve it. However, if we relax a little and let ourselves be open to other options and opportunities, we may discover alternative ways to make it easier for us to reach that goal. Or we may be delighted to find there is an even better yet different path that we never would have discovered if we had continued to be so rigidly locked in on a particular one.
“A clear vision, backed by definite plans, gives you a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power.”
Brian Tracy
