Sometimes it can feel as if the weight of the world is on our shoulders. We take on too much responsibility, striving to meet the needs of others, often overlooking our own. Whenever we think that it is selfish to think of ourselves, it is important to remember that we cannot do everything alone, and that it is not selfish to take a break and focus on our own physical and mental wellbeing.

If we constantly give, then there will be nothing left to offer others if we don’t take some time to nurture ourselves. There are times when we need to lean on others and accept help and support in order to rest and soothe and replenish our souls. Make it a priority to relax and recharge, whether it’s a few minutes each day, or an hour or more per week. Remember, it’s not a luxury…it’s essential.

I can relate. Self care is not selfish. In order to give our best we must first look after ourselves first.
