Use Your Powers for Good

As a person in a position of power and authority, is important to not only listen to others, but to actively participate in creating, as best we can, all-around satisfactory solutions to issues that arise. When we use our talents to help others and encourage them as they strive toward their goals, then it becomes an unstoppable force which many people can benefit from.

“The deep root of failure in our lives is to think, ‘Oh how useless and powerless I am.’ It is essential to think strongly and forcefully, ‘I can do it,’ without boasting or fretting.”

Dalai Lama

If we don’t use our talents or we only do so if it in some way benefits us or earns us praise, then that is not using our power for good. Similarly, if we doubt ourselves and our abilities, remain afraid to speak up and assert ourselves, or in some way give away our personal power, then we deprive ourselves and others of potentially amazing experiences and opportunities for creating good in the world.

The power of communication is so important, and when we speak our truth and remain open to listening to others as they speak their truth, then we will have opportunities to teach as well as learn, both of which lead to personal growth and development. When we use our personal powers to connect with others in meaningful ways, we contribute to the successful outcomes for all involved.

As leaders, we must be willing to take a stand for what we believe in and to follow through, doing what we can to help others and be authentically generous and compassionate. In addition, when we serve others, we will become better able to lead since we have taken the time to gain understanding and insight into the situation. Therefore, we must use our powers for good: to use the power of our talents to bring joy to others, and to cultivate the power of communication for the benefit of all.

“There are many different kinds of power. True power comes from serving and helping others. Such behavior makes people respect you. They are willing to listen to your views and advice, and they support you. The energy of many people is thus channeled through one person. This kind of power is positive and authentic.”

Dalai Lama

  1. Virtually all of the things you assert happens to be astonishingly appropriate and it makes me ponder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this in this light before. This particular article really did switch the light on for me as far as this specific subject goes. Nonetheless at this time there is actually one point I am not too comfortable with so while I make an effort to reconcile that with the actual core idea of your issue, let me observe just what the rest of your visitors have to point out.Nicely done.
