Know Your Worth

So many people harbor the belief that they are not worthy—not worthy of love, understanding, acceptance, respect, forgiveness, prosperity, or any other number of things. We lack faith that we are good enough or are enough. We either learned this set of beliefs from what someone said to us at some point in our lives and we internalized it, or we based it on some of the experiences of our lives and integrated it as truth.

Low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand-break on.

Maxwell Maltz

The only way out of that cycle of thinking is to change the narrative. We must reframe our thoughts from what we lack to what we are grateful for and what we choose to welcome into our lives. As we begin to develop our sense of self-worth, we will see myriad things in our lives begin to reflect the new belief that we are worthy of all the good things we want for ourselves. Along with this new set of beliefs, we can begin to not only accept the good things that happen, but we can attract more and create more positivity in our lives as well.

Remember, while other people’s opinions can and do influence us, we must hold our opinion of ourselves as more important, and value our own sense of worthiness. If we let other people’s careless statements undermine us and place more importance on what someone else says about us than we do our own, then we are just giving that power away, and we deserve better than that.

Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.
