Progress Report

Can you believe that January has already come and gone?

If you’re like most people, you probably made some New Year’s resolutions or set some goals for this year. It is now February, so it is time to check in with yourself and review your progress.

Are you one of the few people who have stuck with your resolutions? (Apparently more than 90% of people have given up by the end of January!) Have you noticed that things are changing for the better and do you feel good about how things are going? Or have your goals kind of fallen by the wayside leaving you feeling frustrated or defeated? Do you need to make an adjustment to your plan of action?

If things aren’t going exactly ‘right’ don’t let it get you down. Like practically everyone, I’m sure there have been times when you have judged yourself or compared yourself to others or thought you should have accomplished more or done better in some way. Many times, we can be harder on ourselves than we are on others. But I want you to remember that even if you haven’t made the progress you were expecting to so far, don’t give up! Start where you are and focus on making today count as you move forward toward your goals.

A wonderful way to help you stay on track is to get someone to help keep you accountable. Encourage each other and offer support to each other as you aim for success. This really helps when your energy starts to wane and you’re not feeling as enthusiastic or motivated as you were at the beginning. When you have a support system and someone to keep you focused on what you want to accomplish, it really makes a difference.

Just take it one day at a time – or even one minute at a time – and you will be that much closer to achieving your goal. Before you know it, you will be celebrating your success. Remember: you’ve got this!

Every day of our lives, we are on the verge of making those slight changes that would make all the difference.
