Most people, at one point or another, have experienced the inner knowing that something isn’t right, or have felt compelled to do or not do something, even if it didn’t make logical sense. Whether or not we listen to our instincts usually has an impact on the way the situations in our lives play out. This is our inner guidance system, and it is there to help us, yet often we ignore it or defer to other people. What happens when we ignore our gut and listen to other people’s truths instead? Many times, it can lead to regret, disappointment, and pain.
It is imperative to become comfortable with our own self-trust and authority, and to respect how we feel. Sometimes we might give another person our trust and while that is good to some degree, we still need to trust and rely on our own instincts. When we relinquish control and avoid taking responsibility for ourselves, our choices, and our actions, we are not doing anyone – especially ourselves- any favors.
Do we really need someone else to tell us what to do or what to think? Well, sometimes we do need to get other people’s perspectives so we can make better decisions. We all can use guidance from trusted and respectable people, especially in our formative years; however, there must come a time when we should learn to rely on our own judgment, to trust our own instincts and gut feelings. When something feels wrong, stop, and assess the situation. If something feels like the right thing to do, then we should go with that.
It is important to advocate for ourselves and to trust that we can make our own decisions and listen to our gut. Not everyone will agree with those decisions, and that is okay. We should not worry about hurting someone else’s feelings if we feel uncomfortable and our instincts tell us something is amiss. It is time to believe in our ability to make informed and smart decisions regarding our own lives and wellbeing. By listening to our intuition, we will ultimately be happier.
There is a universal, intelligent, life force that exists within everyone and everything. It resides within each one of us as a deep wisdom, an inner knowing. We can access this wonderful source of knowledge and wisdom through our intuition, an inner sense that tells us what feels right and true for us at any given moment.
