We all seem to be in a state of constant motion; things to do, places to go, people to see. We’re in a rush to get from one place to the next, not taking the time we need to rest and recharge. When this happens, we risk feeling burned out and discontent.
As counter intuitive as it sounds, when we slow down and take time for ourselves by relaxing and resting, we enhance our day to day lives, thus becoming better equipped to actually accomplish more.
Today, give yourself permission for a time-out. Turn off all the noisemakers and distractions. Sit, stand, or lie very still and just become aware of silence. How does your body respond to this silence? Do you feel uncomfortable because you’re used to constant stimuli? Or do you feel a sense of peace as you spend a few moments resting in the stillness?
By taking a proper time for rest, listening to our bodies and taking care of ourselves, we end up becoming much more productive, calmer, and better able to manage life’s daily pressures.
Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop.
