The season is getting ready to change, so I have been going through closets and drawers and giving away things that no longer appeal to me or that I have no need of anymore. In doing this, it occurred to me that other areas of my life could also benefit from a ‘cleaning’ as well, and this is the perfect time to reflect on what is working and what isn’t.
With this thought in mind, I have been pondering the habits and ideas that are not benefitting me and which need to be removed and replaced with better, uplifting ones. If something feels like a burden and is just weighing me down or holding me back, then it is most likely not worth holding onto. Since I sometimes slip into negative thinking – and we all know that what you think about you bring about – I have been reframing negative thoughts into positive ones.
So, to boost the good in my life, I have been focusing on improving my health and well-being by exercising more and taking supplements to bolster my immune system to combat the nasty viruses that have been making the rounds lately. Instead of worrying about the outcome of something, I have been focusing on it working out in the best way for everyone involved.
It does no good to hold on to unhealthy habits and ideas; it’s okay to let them go. Nor is it good to keep a bunch of unused, unloved items just because someone gave them to you, or you think you might possibly use them ‘someday’. By clearing out unnecessary things and making room for positive and beneficial ones, it not only makes for a cleaner home, but it also creates space for more happiness and joy in life.
Oh, would that my mind could let fall its dead ideas, as the tree does its withered leaves!
