What do you think of when you hear or see the word ‘freedom’? There is more than one way to apply the word ‘freedom’: freedom to and freedom from. You have freedom to do something you want to do, or to not do something. You also have freedom from unhealthy things that are not of any use to you, if you choose to let them go.
Freedom to choose, to change, to think and reason, to allow your creative energy to flow, freedom to prosper, etc. Freedom from pain, from disease and ill health, from debt, from anxiety and negativity, from anger and resentment, freedom from self-imposed limits; there are myriad ways to enjoy freedom.
People tend to feel stuck in different areas of their life, and therefore, don’t feel like they are truly free. It is important to realize that you do have the freedom to make changes in your own life. A lot of times we stay stuck in our patterns because it is easier, regardless of whether we are happy. Often, we let others make decisions for us and we give into demands, whether subtle or not, and we end up just going along with it. Sometimes we choose the ‘lesser of two evils’ and try to make the best of it.
Today, declare your freedom. You have the strength you need to release that which does not serve your highest good. When you feel like you are stuck in a situation and you have no choice, think about what it is that you truly want: do you want to be free to do (or not do) something, or do you want freedom from something? Then, think about how you can apply this to your situation and finally claim the freedom that, even if you hadn’t realized it until now, is already yours.
What is freedom? Freedom is the right to choose: the right to create for oneself the alternatives of choice.
