You are a unique, one-of-a-kind person, with your own amazing qualities that make you who you are. Just by being yourself, you have the potential for greatness; you have the capacity to love and be loved, to help others and be helped, to use your imagination and be creative. You can express yourself in unlimited ways. You have interesting and distinctive gifts within you, but how much are you willing to shine out into the world?
Or maybe you have not realized your potential yet. We may look to others to see how they perceive us, letting that influence what we show the world. Many of us feel insecure and are afraid to show our gifts, our talents, that special ‘something’ that makes us different. We are all susceptible to mental programming from people around us: our family and friends, colleagues, society, and even ourselves. And when fear and doubt cloud our minds, it can influence us in negative ways. There is no need to try to get attention in any way possible, especially by tearing someone else down to make ourselves appear better. We can overcome a pessimistic, unhealthy outlook by focusing on making every day a little better, a little brighter.
You are not exactly like everyone else; let your individuality reflect who you really are and bring forth your best self. We all have something meaningful to offer that can contribute to an extraordinary and happier life, for ourselves and for those around us. Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.
Always be a first rate version of yourself and not a second rate version of someone else.
Judy Garland
