Take Time for Solitude

We often spend so much time occupying ourselves with various activities that taking a few quiet moments just to be alone with our thoughts is considered to be a waste of time. Is it that we are afraid of what we might discover about ourselves if we spend any amount of time just thinking? Perhaps we feel as if we are not being productive if we aren’t actively doing something.

However, by constantly engaging our minds and our time with activities that tend to block out personal deep thinking, we are not doing ourselves any favors. We end up feeling more stressed and less creative.

Today, why not give yourself the gift of some time alone? During times of quiet contemplation we can open ourselves to profound insights and new ideas. It doesn’t have to be for more than a few minutes, but those few minutes can be incredibly meaningful. Make it a priority to refresh yourself in peaceful solitude, either for a few minutes each day or even once a week.

Solitude is creativity’s best friend, and solitude is refreshment for our souls.
